Ron Moonesinghe is an experienced, UK‑trained brass and woodwind repairer and a proud Professional Member of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers (NAMIR). His training was completed under Trevor Head at the Llangunllo School of Instrument Repair in Wales  - a respected figure who now serves as NAMIR President.

Ron has been a musician since the age of 8 and has spent over 55 years playing trombone. He served 7 years as a military musician in the British Army, performing on both trombone and cello. His service included two years of training at Woolwich followed by a final year at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, before joining the prestigious Royal Artillery Band.

After leaving the Army, Ron built a successful career in insurance while continuing to perform actively. He has played with local Brass Bands as a Bass Trombonist, and he is the Band Leader of the Veterans Big Band, bringing his musical experience into every ensemble he works with.

Ron later established British Music Service while working with schools and musicians in Abu Dhabi, choosing the name to reassure expatriate clients that his standards and training were firmly rooted in the UK’s respected repair tradition. Today, Ron combines decades of musicianship with professional repair expertise, offering meticulous, reliable work for brass and woodwind players across the region. His background as a performer - from military bands to Big Bands and Brass Bands - gives him a unique understanding of how instruments should feel, respond, and perform. Ron is assisted by his wife Tania, herself an accomplished cornet and trumpet player with local brass bands and ensembles.

British Music Service is proud to hold the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award, reflecting our long‑standing commitment to supporting serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families. In recognition of their service, we are pleased to extend a discount to both serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces.
